The Amazing Race is a great way to stimulate co-operation, healthy competition, get people out of their seats and doing some positive exercise. It has something for everyone regardless of whether you have had a heart bypass or are a Comrade’s runner.

It has the added dimension of being flexible enough to incorporate product knowledge or even test questions on presentations made earlier in the conference. A really great example of this process is one where we have teams find out more about each other during the process and so break down barriers and build new relationships in the process.

The Ama"zing" Race is based on a reality TV game show in which teams, whose members have  a pre-existing relationship, race around the world in a competition with other teams.

Contestants strive to arrive at "pit stops" at the end of each leg of the race to win prizes and avoid coming in last. Coming in last carries the possibility of elimination or a significant disadvantage in the following leg.

The clues in each leg point the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. These challenges are related in some manner to the country or culture where they are located.

There will be clues guiding you along the way and a wide assortment of challenges along the route for you to overcome.

Your ability to solve puzzles, communicate and your product knowledge will be tested and only if you have unlocked the desired understanding, will you be able to win this race as a team.

Amazing Race is the land-based version of our Cannonball Run experience. The difference between the two services is simple, the Amazing Race is a high impact event that happens at a venue and does not use the added transportation elements of helicopters, plans, balloons, boats or cars.

Instead it optimises the time to provide teams or pairs with a range of psychological, emotional and physical challenges to overcome.

It can be run at just about any conference venue, providing there is enough outdoor space.

A good example of a venue where this works well is Champagne Sports Resorts, Mount Grace, De Hoek, Sun City, Cape Town Waterfront, Oubaai Golf Resort in George... to name a few.

The process can run from 1 hour to 8 hours and is therefore an ideal teambuilding experience to fit into varied conference events.
